Silver Lake is a small Kansas town about 10 miles northwest of Topeka, easily reached via US-24 from either Topeka or Kansas City. Most visitors arrive by taking I-70 to Topeka, then following US-24 northwest. The town sits in typical Kansas prairie country and has convenient access to Topeka Regional Airport. Silver Lake operates its own municipal electric utility, unusual for a community its size.
