Silsbee sits in Southeast Texas pine country about 85 miles northeast of Houston, serving as a gateway to Big Thicket National Preserve. US Highway 96 runs through downtown as the main route, connecting to Beaumont 20 miles south and continuing north toward the Arkansas border. Most visitors arrive from Houston via US 69 to US 96, or from Louisiana via Interstate 10. The Heritage Village Museum preserves historic log cabins from the area's lumber boom days.
