Silex is a small farming town in eastern Missouri, about 50 miles northwest of St. Louis via US Highway 61. The area features typical Midwest prairie with hot summers and cold winters. Highway 61 is the main route through town, connecting to Hannibal north and the St. Louis metro southeast, while State Route 79 runs along the Mississippi River 10 miles east. The town still operates one of Missouri's few remaining one-room schoolhouses.
