Silas is a tiny town of 559 people in rural southwestern Alabama, sitting along State Route 17 in Choctaw County. Most visitors arrive via longer routes from Mobile (90 miles) or Montgomery (120 miles), connecting through Grove Hill or Butler. The town is famous as the birthplace of country music legend Hank Williams, with a small monument marking where he was born in 1923.
