Sidney is a farming town of about 950 people in southwestern Iowa, just 15 miles from Nebraska. US Highway 275 runs right through town, connecting west to Nebraska City and east toward Red Oak and Highway 34. State Highway 2 provides north-south access. The area's rolling farmland grows corn and soybeans under Iowa's continental climate. Sidney's 1908 Carnegie Library remains one of the few original Carnegie-funded libraries still operating in this part of Iowa.
