Sibley is a small Missouri River town about 25 miles northeast of Kansas City, reached mainly via Highway 24 from Independence. Most traffic consists of short trips from nearby communities, while long-distance visitors use I-70 or I-35 before connecting to Highway 24. The big draw is Fort Osage, a reconstructed 1808 trading post perched on river bluffs that was one of America's first outposts in the Louisiana Purchase.
