Shuqualak is a small Mississippi town of about 240 people in Noxubee County, accessible via Highway 45 north from Macon or south from West Point. The community sits in rolling hill country where prairie meets pine forest, connected regionally by State Route 16 running east-west toward Starkville and Alabama. The town's name comes from a Choctaw word meaning "hog wallow."
