Shumway is a farming town of 260 people in central Illinois, about 60 miles northeast of St. Louis. Take I-70 to Exit 82, then head north on Route 128 and follow local roads west. From Chicago, it's roughly 200 miles via I-57 south to I-70 west. The town still operates its own post office, something many similar-sized Illinois communities have lost to consolidation.
