Shirley is a mountain community of 269 people in Van Buren County, reached via Highway 65 about 80 miles north of Little Rock through Conway and Clinton. Highway 16 provides east-west access to Mountain View and other Ozark towns. The area serves as a gateway to Buffalo National River and Ozark National Forest. Remnants of the old Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad still wind through the surrounding hills.
