Shinnston is a small city in north-central West Virginia, about 10 miles north of Clarksburg on US Route 19. The town sits in Harrison County's rolling hills and serves as a gateway between Clarksburg and Fairmont. Most visitors arrive via Route 19, which connects to Interstate 79 for longer trips to Charleston or Pittsburgh. It's one of the few places in West Virginia that still operates its own independent school district.
