Shepherd is a small East Texas town of about 2,200 people located 45 miles northeast of Houston in the Piney Woods region. Take US-59 north from Houston to FM-150 east for the most direct route, passing through pine forests and rural farmland. The town sits at the intersection of State Highway 150 and FM-2025, making it accessible from multiple directions. Shepherd hosts the annual San Jacinto County Fair each October, a tradition dating back to 1954.
