Shelton is a farming town of 1,400 people in south-central Nebraska, about 20 miles southwest of Kearney via US Highway 10. Most visitors come from Kearney or connect through Interstate 80 at Exit 272. The town sits on flat prairie along the Wood River, surrounded by corn and soybean fields. Its towering grain elevator serves as a landmark visible for miles across the Great Plains.
