Shellsburg is a small farming town in eastern Iowa, about 20 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids via Highway 150. The community of 868 people sits among rolling prairie farmland typical of the Iowa River valley. Most visitors arrive from Cedar Rapids using Highway 13 north to Highway 150 west, a 25-minute rural drive. The town preserves its original 1856 railroad depot as a historical museum.
