Shell Rock is a small Iowa town of 1,600 people in Butler County, reached via Highway 3 from Waverly (10 miles east) or Highway 14 from Cedar Falls (20 miles south). The Shell Rock River Trail runs through town, connecting to regional bike networks. The municipal campground along the river offers some of the area's best smallmouth bass fishing.
