Shelby is a small county seat in western Michigan, about 45 miles north of Grand Rapids via US-31. The town of 2,600 sits inland from Lake Michigan in farming country. Most visitors arrive on US-31, which connects north to Traverse City and south to Muskegon and Grand Rapids. The 1907 courthouse downtown has a notable clock tower that's been the town's timepiece for over a century.
