Seward is a college town 25 miles west of Lincoln on US Highway 34, serving as the county seat with about 7,700 residents. The straight drive from Lincoln takes 30 minutes, while Omaha visitors can reach it in an hour via I-80 west to Highway 15 north. Concordia University Nebraska, founded in 1894, dominates the downtown area with its distinctive red-brick campus buildings.
