Secretary is a small Eastern Shore community of 635 people in Dorchester County, reached via Route 16 from Cambridge or US 50 from the Bay Bridge. The town sits amid coastal marshlands and farmland typical of the Chesapeake region. Cambridge Dorchester Airport lies 15 miles northwest. Secretary gets its name from nearby Secretary Island, tucked away in the winding creeks of Fishing Bay.
