Scranton is a small farming town in eastern Kansas, about 50 miles from Kansas City via US-56 west. The main routes are US Highway 56 running east-west through town and State Highway 31 heading north-south. Most visitors arrive from Topeka (35 miles east) or Kansas City using these same highways. The town sits in rolling prairie country with hot summers and cold winters. The restored 1920s grain elevator still operates during harvest and serves as a towering landmark visible across the surrounding farmland.
