Scranton is a farming community of 542 people in central Iowa, about 15 miles northwest of Jefferson on Highway 4. Most visitors drive Highway 30 west from Des Moines to Jefferson, then take Highway 4 north. The town's historic grain elevator rises above the surrounding cornfields as a landmark visible for miles across the prairie.
