Schneider is a tiny Lake County community of 230 people near the Illinois border, about 45 miles southeast of Chicago. Reach it via I-65 to State Road 10 west, or from Chicago via I-94 south to US Route 41. The flat farmland setting showcases Indiana's agricultural character. The town's working grain elevator still serves local farmers today.
