Scalp Level is a small Pennsylvania borough in Cambria County with 791 residents, nestled in the Allegheny Mountains about 15 miles southeast of Johnstown. Route 56 provides the main access, connecting to major highways via Johnstown and the Pennsylvania Turnpike system. The community gets its unique name from nearby Scalp Level Mountain, named by early settlers for the mountain's naturally bare, "scalped" summit.
