Sawyerville is a tiny farming community of 200 people in central Illinois, about 40 miles south of Springfield via Interstate 55 and State Route 4. Most visitors come from Springfield or St. Louis, following I-55 to the Farmersville exit then taking Route 4 southwest through corn and soybean country. The historic Sawyerville School building remains a local landmark from the community's educational past.
