Satartia is a tiny community of 24 people in rural Yazoo County, sitting along the Big Black River about 15 miles south of Yazoo City via Highway 3. From Jackson, take I-55 north to Bentonia, then head west through farmland on local roads. The area's flat Delta terrain and agricultural landscape reflect its heritage, and the name comes from a Choctaw word meaning "pumpkin place."
