Sarles is a farming community of 19 people in far northeast North Dakota, eight miles from Canada. Drive US 81 north from Grand Forks about 85 miles, then west on County Road 55. The town sits in prime agricultural land typical of the Red River Valley region. Sarles operates one of North Dakota's smallest post offices, which doubles as the community gathering spot.
