Sarcoxie is a small farming town in southwest Missouri, about 15 miles northeast of Joplin via Highway 37. Take I-44 west from Springfield, then Highway 37 north, or come up from Joplin on Highway 71 to Highway 37. The town of 1,600 sits in rolling prairie country where Sarcoxie Creek flows through. Its unusual name comes from a Shawnee word meaning "mouth of creek."
