Sanford is a small farming town in Colorado's San Luis Valley, sitting at 7,500 feet between mountain ranges. US Highway 160 runs right through town, connecting it to Alamosa 25 miles east and continuing toward Durango. Most traffic is local agricultural business or travelers crossing the valley. The town still has its original railroad depot from the early 1900s potato farming boom.
