Sandwich is a Fox River city about 65 miles southwest of Chicago, reached via US Route 34 and Route 47. Most visitors take I-88 west to Route 47 south, then connect to Route 34. The city of 7,200 sits in farm country with a continental climate. The 1879 Sandwich Opera House remains one of Illinois' oldest continuously operating theaters.
