Sand Rock is a small Cherokee County town of about 870 people, located 15 miles southwest of Fort Payne on Highway 35. Most visitors arrive via I-59 to Fort Payne, then take Highway 35 southwest through rolling Appalachian foothills. The town sits at about 1,000 feet elevation with a humid subtropical climate. EV charging is limited, so plan stops in Fort Payne or Gadsden. The community is named for a prominent natural sandstone formation visible from the main highway.
