San Jacinto sits in Riverside County's mountain valley, surrounded by the San Jacinto Mountains. The main route in is State Route 79 running north-south through downtown, connecting to nearby Hemet. From the west, take SR-74 from I-215 near Perris for a scenic mountain drive. Long-distance visitors typically use I-215 to SR-74, while locals use Ramona Expressway for valley trips. The city houses Mt. San Jacinto College's public planetarium, the only one in the region.
