San Bernardino anchors the Inland Empire at the junction of I-10 and I-215, about an hour east of LA. The city sits at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains with decent access to both desert highways and mountain recreation. Most travelers use I-10 for cross-country trips or I-215 from Orange County. The original McDonald's restaurant still operates on West 14th Street.
