Salem sits 16 miles northeast of Boston on Massachusetts' North Shore, accessible via I-95 or the scenic coastal Route 1A. Most visitors take Route 1 north to Route 129 east, though the waterfront route through Lynn offers better views. Beverly Regional Airport is 4 miles north. The Witch House, built around 1675, is the only surviving structure with direct ties to the infamous 1692 witch trials.
