Salem is a small city in south-central Illinois, about 75 miles east of St. Louis. Take I-57 to Exit 116, or use US Route 50 for east-west travel. The city sits in rolling farmland and serves as Marion County's seat. Salem is the birthplace of William Jennings Bryan, the famous orator and three-time presidential candidate.
