Saco straddles the Saco River in southern Maine, 18 miles south of Portland via I-95. The Maine Turnpike provides the main access through Exits 32 and 36, connecting to Route 1's coastal corridor and inland Route 5. Downtown sits on both sides of the river, linked by historic bridges where you can see the 35-foot waterfalls that once powered the city's textile mills.
