Rutland is a tiny farming community of about 100 people in southeastern North Dakota's Sargent County. Highway 11 runs right through town, connecting north to Fargo (60 miles) via I-29 and south toward the South Dakota border. Most visitors are passing through on agricultural business or heading to regional destinations. The town's grain elevator towers over the surrounding prairie farmland and serves as a landmark visible for miles.
