Rutherford is a small farming town in northwest Tennessee's Gibson County, about 20 miles east of the Tennessee River. Most visitors arrive via State Route 190, either from Dyersburg to the west or Dresden to the east. The town sits in fertile agricultural country with rolling hills typical of west Tennessee. The historic 1912 train depot, now a community center and museum, showcases the area's railroad heritage when multiple rail lines once converged here.
