Russia is a small farming community in western Ohio with about 640 residents. Located in Shelby County, it sits along State Route 119, about 8 miles from Sidney and 35 miles north of Dayton via Interstate 75. The village connects rural communities in a region dominated by corn and soybean fields. Russia earned its distinctive name from a 19th-century store owner who had traveled to the country and wanted to honor it.
