Russell is a small Kansas city on Interstate 70, about halfway between Kansas City and Denver. It's the county seat and a convenient stop for cross-country travelers, sitting where Highway 281 intersects I-70. The surrounding area is classic Great Plains farmland with wide-open views. Russell Municipal Airport handles small aircraft south of town. The city is best known as Bob Dole's hometown, with a museum on Main Street celebrating the former senator and presidential candidate.
