Royal is a tiny farming community in east-central Illinois, about 15 miles from Champaign. Most people get there via I-74 to the St. Joseph exit, then head south on county roads. It's surrounded by endless cornfields and anchored by a massive grain elevator that you can spot from miles away across the flat prairie.
