Roxboro is a small county seat about 30 miles north of Durham, connected by US Highway 501 which runs straight through downtown. Most visitors arrive via this route from the Research Triangle area or continue north toward Virginia. The town of 8,000 sits in tobacco country with rolling Piedmont hills. The historic Person County Courthouse with its prominent clock tower anchors the downtown area.
