Roswell sits in southeastern New Mexico along US-285, about 200 miles from Albuquerque and 75 miles south of Clovis. US-380 and US-70 provide east-west connections to Texas and Las Cruces respectively. The high desert location brings hot summers and mild winters with summer thunderstorms. The International UFO Museum occupies a former movie theater downtown, displaying exhibits about the famous 1947 incident.
