Rosepine is a small Louisiana town on Highway 171 in the state's pine forest region, about 45 miles north of Lake Charles and 60 miles south of Alexandria. The area experiences typical Louisiana heat and humidity, with rolling hills covered in timber plantations. Highway 10 provides east-west access toward DeRidder and the Texas border. The town's name comes from the towering longleaf pines that originally covered this part of Vernon Parish.
