Roosevelt is Utah's Uintah Basin hub, reached via US Highway 40 from Salt Lake City (150 miles west) or Vernal (30 miles east). The county seat serves surrounding ranch and energy communities in high desert country. State Route 121 heads north to Ashley National Forest recreation areas. The 1914 sandstone courthouse on Main Street showcases locally quarried red stone.
