Rome sits in New York's Mohawk Valley, about 15 miles from Utica and 50 miles east of Syracuse. The city of 32,000 connects major east-west routes via I-90 Exit 32 and Route 49, with Route 26 running north-south to I-81. It's a natural stop between Albany and Syracuse, with Griffiss International Airport just outside town serving as a former Air Force base turned business park. The massive Revere Copper Products plant still dominates the riverfront, earning Rome its nickname "Copper City."
