Rockvale is a small Colorado town of about 700 people in the Arkansas River valley, 40 miles southwest of Colorado Springs via Highway 115. The scenic drive takes 45 minutes through Penrose and Florence, with Highway 69 providing southern access from Walsenburg. At 5,200 feet elevation, it sits where high plains meet the Sangre de Cristo foothills. The area is known for significant dinosaur fossil discoveries from the Morrison Formation.
