Rockton is a small city of about 8,000 people in northern Illinois, just 15 miles north of Rockford near the Wisconsin border. Highway 2 runs right through town and connects directly to I-39 near Rockford, making it an easy drive from most directions. The area sits along the Rock River with rolling prairie landscape. The Macktown Living History Education Center downtown features authentic 1800s log buildings where costumed interpreters demonstrate frontier life.
