Rockport sits on the Texas Gulf Coast about 30 miles northeast of Corpus Christi, where several bays meet the Gulf of Mexico. The main route is Highway 35 from Corpus Christi, which continues north toward Houston. From San Antonio, take I-37 south to Corpus Christi, then Highway 35 northeast. The city draws visitors for fishing charters, art galleries, and exceptional bird watching along the Central Flyway. The harbor hosts one of Texas's largest brown pelican rookeries each spring.
