Riverton is a tiny farming town of 188 people in southwestern Iowa's Fremont County, near the Missouri River valley. Highway 2 runs east-west through town, connecting to Sidney 15 miles east and Nebraska City 25 miles west across the river. County Road J46 provides north-south access to rural areas and eventually Interstate 29 near Hamburg. The town's preserved 1885 one-room schoolhouse still stands on Main Street.
