Riverdale is a small industrial city in Chicago's far south suburbs, right on the Indiana border. Interstate 94 runs along its eastern edge, connecting it to downtown Chicago 20 miles north and Indiana points south. State Route 1 (Halsted Street) provides north-south access, while I-57 passes just west of town. Gary/Chicago International Airport sits just minutes away across the state line, with Chicago Midway about 15 miles northwest. The city is home to one of America's largest landfills.
