Rising Star is a small Texas town of 668 people located about 100 miles southwest of Fort Worth via Interstate 20 and Highway 183. The community sits in rolling Cross Timbers country where oak woodlands meet prairie grassland. Travelers reach it by taking I-20 west from Dallas-Fort Worth, then Highway 183 north for 15 miles. Local roads include Farm Road 2132 and Highway 36 connecting to Brownwood and Cross Plains. EV drivers should plan charging stops in larger towns since rural options are limited. The town got its hopeful name in the 1880s when settlers expected it would become a major railroad center.
