Richmond is a college town in Kentucky's Bluegrass region, about 25 miles southeast of Lexington along Interstate 75. The Eastern Kentucky Parkway starts here, making it a gateway to the Appalachian foothills. Eastern Kentucky University dominates the city, and its distinctive Powell Building tower can be spotted from I-75 miles away.
